Win back the subscription revenue that quietly leaks away

RetryPilot connects to your Stripe account, keeps retrying failed subscription charges, emails your customers a one-click link to fix their card, and shows you exactly how much came back.

Free plan covers 3 active recoveries. $49/mo after that — cancel anytime.

Card data never touches us

Monthly, self-serve cancel through Stripe's portal

Nobody churns on purpose. They just forget to update a card.

Involuntary churn is the quietest way a subscription business loses money. There is no cancellation email, no exit survey, no angry tweet — a card expires, an invoice fails, and a paying customer silently stops being one.

Across 1,900+ subscription sites, Recurly measured average involuntary churn at 1.38% of subscribers every month — and expired or replaced cards cause a large share of it. Most of those customers still want your product. They just never found out the payment failed.

Source: Recurly churn-rate benchmark study. Your own numbers will differ — the dashboard shows yours, not an industry average.

Expired card

The single most common cause. The customer has a new card and never told anyone.

Insufficient funds

Usually temporary. Retrying two days later often just works.

Hard decline

Retrying is pointless and risks fees. This one needs an email, not another attempt.

Suspected fraud block

Never blind-retried — repeated attempts make it worse with the issuer.

Connect once. It runs without you.

Setup is one OAuth click. After that there is nothing to maintain and no webhook to configure.

01

Connect Stripe

One OAuth click. No code, no webhook setup, no engineering ticket. You can revoke access from your Stripe dashboard at any time.

02

We watch for failures

Every failed subscription invoice is picked up in real time and classified by decline reason — expired card, insufficient funds, hard decline, or suspected fraud.

03

Recovery runs itself

Retries fire on their own schedule — day 1, 3 and 5 by default. Your customer gets a short email sequence with a one-click link to fix their card. Hard declines and suspected fraud are never blind-retried, because repeated attempts make those worse with the issuer.

What your customer receives

A short, plain email that explains what happened and gives them one thing to do. Up to three steps, spaced out — then it stops.

Hi there — we tried to charge your card for your $249.00 subscription and it was declined (insufficient funds).

We'll retry automatically on day 1, day 3 and day 5. To fix it straight away, update your payment method:

See the number, not a vibe

The whole point of paying for recovery is being able to tell whether it worked. Every recovery is recorded against the customer and the invoice it came from, so the recovered total is a number you can check rather than one you have to trust.

Recovered revenue

Total actually collected after a failure, by currency — never summed across currencies.

At-risk MRR

What is currently sitting in an open recovery campaign and could still go either way.

Recovery rate

How many campaigns ended in payment, out of all that started.

Activity log

Every retry, every email sent, every recovery — with timestamps, per customer.

Plus: the AI leak audit

A read-only pass over your last 90 days of invoices that tells you what already failed, what Stripe recovered on its own, what is still leaking, and which decline reasons are actually fixable — written up in plain language. It is the honest way to find out whether this is worth paying for. Included on the Pro plan.

You are handing over billing access. Here is exactly what that means.

Asking a founder for write access to their Stripe account is a big ask, and vague reassurance is not an answer. This is the specific scope, the specific storage, and the specific limits.

Straight answers

Stripe already retries failed payments for free. Why pay for this?

Stripe Billing does include smart retries, dunning emails and a card updater, and they are genuinely good — you should have them on. RetryPilot is for the part Stripe does not give you: one place that keeps retrying on your own schedule after Stripe's window closes, a card-update page you can point customers at directly, and a dashboard that attributes recovered revenue so you can see the number rather than assume it. If Stripe's defaults are already recovering everything you care about, you do not need us. The free plan lets you find that out without paying.

What access does RetryPilot need to my Stripe account?

Stripe Connect OAuth with read-write scope. Write access is required to retry an invoice and to attach an updated card — a read-only token cannot recover a payment. RetryPilot only ever calls invoice, subscription, customer and setup-intent endpoints. It never moves funds, never creates payouts, and never changes your prices or products. You revoke it from your Stripe dashboard in one click.

Do you store my customers' card numbers?

No. The card-update page uses Stripe Elements, so card details go from your customer's browser directly to Stripe. RetryPilot's servers never receive or store a card number. We store invoice metadata, decline reasons, customer IDs and email addresses needed to send the recovery emails.

Who do the recovery emails appear to come from?

Your business. The email subject, heading and footer all lead with your business name as Stripe has it, the card-update page is headed with your name too, and replies route to a support address you configure. RetryPilot appears only as a one-line attribution at the bottom, the way any billing provider does. Being straight about the limit: delivery is currently from RetryPilot's own sending domain rather than yours, so a customer inspecting the raw headers will see us. Per-tenant sending domains and full visual branding are on the roadmap and not available yet — we would rather say so than have you find out after signing up.

What happens if I cancel?

Recovery stops, and you disconnect Stripe from your dashboard or revoke the token from Stripe's side. Billing is monthly through Stripe's own customer portal — cancel there, no email required, no notice period. Your data can be deleted on request.

Who is behind this?

A small independent team in Sweden. RetryPilot is early — you would be one of the first customers, which is why the price is what it is. If that is too early for you, that is a completely reasonable call.

Find out what yours is leaking

Connect Stripe, let it watch for a week, and look at the number. If it is small, you have learned something useful for free.
